This private, secluded house provides a perfect place to enjoy the 2012 Ryder Cup, offering you privacy, convenience and charm. Custom-built built in 2002, it looks like an old-fashioned Bed-and-Breakfast from the outside, but has all the modern conveniences inside. Tiger Woods chose this home to stay in when he won the 2006 PGA Championship at Medinah.
Convenience
Just 1-1/2 blocks from the Medinah Country Club, The front porch and the balcony off the library overlook the same river that flows in front of Medinah’s famed #17 water hole, while the back decks are nestled into a private half-acre of dense woods for total privacy. Scores of fine restaurants are just minutes away.
Charm
The soaring 2-story entry foyer with rustic cherry flooring leads into a large great room where a massive stone fireplace welcomes you. Beamed, ten-foot high ceilings, stone pillars and prairie-style sconce lighting give it a special aura.
The sunken 17 x 17-foot sun room is just steps away through a pair of double French doors. This room is built for comfort, with 12-foot high beam ceiling and heated tile floors. A wrap-around wood deck offers panoramic views of the river in front, the woods in the rear and landscaped gardens with meandering flagstone paths in the middle.
The 14-1/2 x 22-foot kitchen is a gourmet’s delight, featuring two stainless steel refrigerators, two GE Monogram dishwashers, a professional-grade stove and hood, Brazilian granite countertops and custom cabinets. An eight-foot butcher block island provides ample space for working and sitting. A French patio door leads off the kitchen to a cozy screen porch, just past the entertainment counter with under-cabinet beverage refrigerator.
This unique kitchen also features an eight-foot window overlooking a fishpond and the ½ acre of wood behind the house, while the other wall is covered with stone reaching up to the ten-foot ceiling highlighted by indirect lighting.
The 19 x 12 foot dining room easily holds 12, while the adjacent library provides a cozy place to get away with a fireplace and beamed ceiling. Or you can step out onto the 25-foot long balcony overlooking the river and the forest beyond. The winding staircase takes you upstairs to find three large bedrooms and three bathrooms. the master bedroom features his and her bathrooms, a vaulted ceiling and reading nook.
History
When you stay here, you'll be staying in the same home where Tiger Woods chose to stay in 2006 when he won the PGA Championship at Medinah.
